![]() Book Club Talking Points: This story spans several generations providing many opportunities for discussion about slavery and white privilege. It would make an excellent Book Club choice. Overall, this was an excellent book and beautifully written. Just as you were becoming immersed in the character's story, it switched to a different one. Although I loved the book, this style was sometimes frustrating. Each chapter represents a different character and period in time. This story is rich in history with many historical details and complex characters. The author gives a realistic picture of the repercussions future generations faced. This is a fascinating read about a family who's roots started in slavery. It begins in Ghana during the eighteenth century and ends in present day America. The story follows an African-American family through many generations. This book is Gyasi debut novel and a Book Club favorite. It won several awards including being one of Oprah's favorite books of 2016. ![]() PBR Book Review:Historical Fiction enthusiasts will love Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. ![]()
